Very easy to apply and wonderful results

We needed to touch up our bathroom ceiling and walls because of cracks in the plaster. After applying spackle for touching up you then have a flat surface. We stopped in at the local Home Depot and we found this product. I have used other brands of texture before and my results were not that good. Once home and examining the can more closely I was pleasantly surprise by the high technology of the adjustable spray from fine to heavy, it looked very promising. Next we checked out the video for tips on how to use the texture spray and like they advised in the video we practiced spraying on cardboard. It takes a few sprays to get your confidence ready for the real thing. Do remember to use drop clothes because as the old saying goes “What goes up must come down”. For the ceiling I held a large piece of cardboard in one hand to catch most of the drops which are just tiny almost like dust. The texture went on very, very well. Then I got what my wife likes to call “texture cocky” which is you just get crazy and start spraying everywhere the texture needs touch up, outside of the planned area. Bottom line this stuff really was amazing. I was very satisfied. When done and looking back my only word of advice would be to get a second can and use both about three quarters down. The pressure is the highest at first and drops slightly as it is used. So use the best pressure which comes out at first for the most important areas and when you feel the pressure lessen switch to a second can. We were using the nozzle on “fine” so I am not sure how that affects the need for air pressure.

The instructions on the can say to go to www.homaxproducts/texture to review a demo video. The link is not available, but there are at least a couple Homax How To videos on YouTube.
Ok. Strong odor, dries fast.

Check my comments on the water based orange peel products. I purchased one can of the oil based product initially for our project. It went on well and the end result was satisfactory, but as another reviewer commented, the can seemed to run out of pressure even though there was still product left in the can. For the money spent I want to use up the product and have propellant left. The oil based product dries fast but has a stronger odor than the water based. Bottom line: I'd say the oil based product performs better than the water based.
Seven eighths of a can leftover from prior project

It would be very consumer friendly if Homax sold a replacement nozzle for 2 bucks or less to get your monies worth out of the can. PITA to make a nozzle work twice, turning upside down and spraying = poor results with a week of sitting. A small patch, (like a Cadet heater removal,) and 7/8ths of this product goes in the trash. Fifteen of eighteen bucks spent wasted.
Good results but.....

I bought a can of this stuff to do an area of about 28 sq ft. One can did not cover even half. I thought I bought a bad can so purchased 2 more cans. I did the "fine" coverage which was suppose to cover 110 sq foot with one can. Not even close. Cost me over $40 bucks to do a 4x8 (approx.) area. Looks really good but not worth the cost.
