Shake it for One min------ I did two min.. 24" to 36"----- I did 24" from the wall. Shake and spray, shake--- help keep the pressure build up in the can...... I did a Fine at first, and did a Medium, to get a little more Medium Peel Look. ( I had a 35" x 25" new Sheetrock ) Left to right motion work best for me. 1. use a primer 2. Wall Texture 3. Painted it. Work out just fine... Thank Homax
Seems to work as stated on can

In deference to the other reviewer, i found the product to work as stated, although the picture on the can is a bit misleading. One would think the product would come out as voluminous billowing clouds of orange peel wall texture by the picture on the can. Rather, it is a thin blue "spit" like substance. I sprayed from a distance of probably 9-12 inches from the patch area, in short bursts with a waving motion. This worked pretty well for me. When I got it on too thick, it was indeed more like flat paint. As remedy, I used a rag to blot it to "create" texture, and sometimes resprayed slightly. It looks in the blue as I believe it should. It isn't dry yet.
Worthless Waste of Money

One star is one too many. Comes out as a sludge, no spray at all. No matter what I tried...after shaking it several different times for 1, 2, or 3 minutes or more. Even tried running it under warm water, as directed for finer spray. Still a nice sludge no matter what I did.

I followed directions to a "T" the product dried flat. there was no texture to it. It was like I flung white paint on the wall. I was not happy especially for the price.

Directions

Homax Orange Peel Water Based Texture is the fastest way to patch “orange peel” drywall textures. To achieve the best results, please read the following directions carefully before you begin your wall repair project.

VENTILATE AREA WELL. PROTECT SURROUNDING AREA FROM OVERSPRAY. DO NOT SPRAY ON CLOTHING, FURNITURE OR CARPET.

  • Water-based, use warm water for cleanup.
  • Sprays best between 68° F and 72° F.
  • For a finer texture, run can under warm water.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE: MAKE ANY NECESSARY WALL REPAIRS BEFORE APPLYING. FOR BEST RESULTS, PRIME/SEAL AREA BEFORE AND AFTER APPLYING TEXTURE.

  1. Shake can vigorously for one minute prior to use.
  2. Twist off safety tab from nozzle.
  3. Always practice spraying on cardboard or scrap drywall to determine preferred pattern. Pointing away from face, adjust dial to desired pattern. CLOCKWISE for FINE. STRAIGHT UP for MEDIUM. COUNTER CLOCKWISE for HEAVY.
  4. Spray at a distance of 24”-36” from wall using a circular, or quick sweeping motion. Apply in random pattern, covering only 80-90% of surface. Shake can occasionally throughout use. DRY TIME: Allow to dry 5-30 minutes (depending on heaviness of texture) before priming and painting. Heavier textures may require a longer dry time.
  5. To store, clear nozzle by turning can upside and spraying until texture is cleared.
