To remedy many problems with Jasco products, we recommend using an acid wash, and then neutralizing. What is the recommend ratio of baking soda to water solution to neutralize?

1 cup baking soda to 5 gallons of warm water.

Is there an advantage in using Wet Look Cure Seal rather than competitor product?

Wet Look Cure Seal is the only product that can be used for interior applications.

What can I use to clean up the product?

Tools clean up when wet with water. If dry, use JASCO Brush Cleaner.

Does the product meet EPA regulations?

This acrylic polymer product is water-based and meets all EPA and California Air Pollution requirements.

Can the product be reapplied?

Yes. Reapplication can be made at any time when surface is dry for higher luster.

How long does the product take to dry?

Ready for light traffic in 8 hours, heavy traffic in 24 hours.

The product dried milky-white, rather than clear. What can I do?

If there is a drizzling rain, or even a sprinkler on near the surface, Cure-Seal will be diluted and dry milky-white. Use JASCO TSP No-Rinse Substitute or JASCO Sealer & Adhesive Remover on surface. Sealer will melt so that another coat can go over top.

What causes it to turn milky white after a few months?

It could be an efflorescence problem: The moisture may be pushing up salts, which may not have been previously visible due to the degradation of an old sealer. The gloss can wear off of old sealers without the actual sealer wearing off. The old seal should have been stripped. To remove the old seal: Test strip a small area, clean with an acid wash, neutralize, and allow to dry. Then, reapply the sealer. In colder climates, such as CO, you may want to do the test first, and then let it go through the winter. It may look funny, but you cannot apply any sealer when it gets cold, and this will tell you if this would be the fix.

What actually happens if the contents in the container freeze?

The resin may have "kicked out" of the system. In other words, the resin may be congealed in small particles, causing the product not to form a film. There will be no gloss and little white specks.

How does Wet Look Cure Seal hold up in “freeze-thaw” tests?

The freeze thaw test has been done in accordance with freeze thaw stability for paint and coatings. It was noted that it will recover from 1 freeze thaw cycle, but we do not recommend to allow the product to freeze. It is a water based acrylic compound.

Can the Wet Look Cure Seal be painted over?

Sealing a surface before painting is not necessary. Paint will seal the surface. A sealer is used in place of painting, and the paint manufacturers will not recommend any paint to be put over a sealer. Advise the consumer to read the paint directions.

Can I use the Wet Look Cure Seal as a moisture barrier in my basement before I lay down vinyl flooring?

No. If a moisture barrier is needed, you must use a product designed for that purpose - either plastic sheeting or an actual moisture barrier (UGL makes a product). The products are generally expensive, and pigmented, designed to hold back water in a basement. Cure Seal protects from the surface down- not the ground up.

In the Midwest, we frequently use salt on our sidewalks for the winter snow. Will the salt harm the Wet Look Cure Seal?

The surface may get scratched when shoveling and scraping up the snow, but the salt or the salt pellets won't harm the sealer.

Will it be slippery when wet if applied over a clean, smooth concrete surface?

We have not had that problem. On a smooth surface, apply two light coats, allowing to completely dry in between. Do not build a heavy layer on the surface. Make sure there is no sealer present on the surface. As always, TEST a small area first to see end results prior to completing entire project.

Will it turn yellow over time?

It will not yellow over time. It will give a gloss and darken the surface somewhat depending upon the porosity of the surface.

I recently repaired a porous ceramic goose with Fixall, and then waterproofed it with several coats of Jasco Cure-Seal. Is there any danger of toxic run-off when it rains?

There is no danger from any toxic run off. However, Jasco Wet Look Cure Seal is not to be used on ceramic tile or ceramic products - they are non porous and you risk adhesion failure.

Can I use it in my flagstone pond filled with fish?

Not "IN" a pond. The only sealers you could use would be waterproofing compounds designed to hold in or out water or a pool/fountain paint designed for underwater use. Sealers are designed to protect the surface from absorbing stains, and giving either a gloss or leaving the natural look just for the protective qualities.

I want to use it on my “shop” floor. Is it resistant to gasoline?

Yes, it does have some chemical resistance. Gasoline is very oily, though. For safety reasons, and so the gas does not eventually seep through (the sealer is breathable for good reasons), remember to wipe up spills.

Can I use this sealer on my wooden deck?

No, this product will raise the grain of wood. Not recommended. It will dry looking shiny, but it will raise the grain of wood.

What happens if you use an acid wash and do not neutralize with baking soda before putting on the Wet Look Cure Seal, or any of our sealers?

If you acid wash, you will definitely need to neutralize. An acid drops the ph of the substrate to about 2-4, and the Cure Seal ph is about 9. The shock of the extremes will cause the acrylic to shock - leaving white streaked mottling and film.

Does the Wet Look Cure Seal contain any acrylic products?

Yes, the resin is acrylic.

If the cure seal were applied in 80-degree temp to an exterior cement floor, would the sealer dry before it could penetrate the concrete leaving a milky film on the surface?

Yes, keep in mind the temperature rating is for the Substrate not the air temp. If it is 80 degrees outside, the concrete could very well be 90 degrees or above in the sun.

I have applied the sealer over my fresh concrete after two days of drying, and now it looks like it is washing away. What can I do?

We recommend either applying to fresh concrete, as a curing compound immediately after it is troweled, or waiting 30 days for it to cure. If the concrete had a curing compound added to it, it is suggested to wait 30 days for it to complete the cure time. Then, after the wait, take a look. If it looks fine, leave alone. If not, THEN strip and re seal. No harm to concrete either way.

Can the Cure Seal be used on a composite material? It may include plastic.

Cure Seal is for porous cement, stone material. Composite, if it is part plastic, is not porous.

Can wax be applied over the Cure Seal?

Yes it can. You can use a floor paste wax, or use any liquid type of floor wax, like a Mop and Glo type product. Do not use wax for cars or furniture as it will be slippery.

Is there a problem using the Cure Seal around a hot tub, and will the chemicals that are used in a hot tub cause problems with the product?

Should be fine as long as there is no constant water. Do not use on the covering (the lip surrounding the tub of pool), as this is constantly wet.

Can the Cure Seal be used to seal hairline cracks in flagstone?

No. A sealer of any kind does not have enough “guts” to fill voids and be waterproof. The consumer needs to use a crack filler.

Is there any silicone in the product?

No.
