Frequently Asked Questions
How does the Spray Texture Gun work?
The Homax Manual Spray Texture Gun works on a gravity feed/air pressure principle. With each pump of the handle, air pressure pulls back the nozzle; texture flows into the chamber and is sprayed out through the front plate. The side-adjusting lever determines the distance the nozzle retracts, and along with the front plate, controls the size and volume of the spray pattern.
What is the coverage of one full pump?
Each full pump stroke will spray an area approximately 6 inches by 3 feet.
Are the Homax systems easy to use?
The systems are a messy job like painting, but are not difficult. Each gun comes with an instruction manual featuring step-by-step instructions and illustrations.
How do I go about matching an existing texture pattern already on my wall?
By adjusting the front plate and lever and practicing on a sheet of cardboard or drywall, the user should have a good idea of the pattern they will achieve. Texture can be removed with a mud knife if done shortly after spraying.
How far back from the wall do I stand?
Generally stand about 3 feet back from the wall. The closer you are to the surface, the more concentrated the spray pattern will be. Texture will begin to run if the pattern becomes too concentrated.
What is the best way to clean the texture gun?
After use, remove the front plate and allow the texture from the gun to drain back into the bottle. Remove the bottle from the gun and rinse the gun chamber with warm water using your fingers or a brush to remove any texture residue. It is not necessary to disassemble the gun to clean it.
How can the gun parts be replaced?
Consumers can call Homax toll free at (800) 729-9029 for parts or mail the parts list in the instruction manual to order directly.
Can Professional Gun (4405P) be converted into a Pneumatic Gun?
No, the gun parts we used are no longer available.
