Can I spray on and wash off with a hose on a new metal door - instead of wiping off?
No. If you want to degloss, you cannot just wash it down with water. The Liquid Sander Paint Etch softens the film and the wiping does the deglossing. Washing with water will only work to somewhat clean the surface, and create rust if it is not wiped off right away.
Customer has oil-based enamel coated trim & wants to cover with a latex paint. Will the Liquid Sander Paint Etch make it so the two paints can bond? Also should he prime before repainting, if so should it be a water-based primer?
Yes, the Liquid Sander Paint Etch will degloss the surface. Prime if, surface is not in good condition, i.e., chipping peeling or stains. Doesn’t matter what kind of primer, use the primer that is recommended for the job, you are not mixing them, when dry; it doesn’t matter whether water or oil based.
