Instructions
Surface Preparation:
Follow directions for surface preparation carefully for proper adhesion.
- For porcelainized, cast-iron and steel tubs, clean surface with warm water and scouring powder. For fiberglass, ABS and other plastic tubs, clean surface according to manufacturer’s instructions. IMPORTANT: Do not use liquid or aerosol cleaners to prepare tub. Treads will not adhere properly.
- Thoroughly rinse tub surface. Wipe dry. Use household rubbing alcohol to remove all cleaning material residue and allow to air dry 30 minutes. Surface must be smooth, completely dry and above 50° F. NOTE: Areas on floors to which treads will be secured should be stripped before washing. Use detergent instead of alcohol. Prime or seal all unpainted wood or porous (concrete) surfaces. IMPORTANT: Do not apply over uneven surfaces; bridging gaps not recommended.
Application:
- 80” roll: Decide on a pattern of strips before you begin cutting the roll. (We suggest 8 strips, each 10” long.) Cut strips before removing backing. For safest footing, space Safety Treads one to three inches apart. Strips and appliqués: With paper backing in place, arrange strips or appliqués in desired pattern.
- Remove backing from one piece at a time, taking care not to touch adhesive. IMPORTANT: Minimize contact with adhesive.
- Press Treads firmly from middle outward to ensure solid contact with surface. Go over Safety Treads with a rolling pin, beginning in middle and rolling out toward edges.
- Allow adhesive to bond for 12 hours before using tub or shower.
Cleaning:
- Clean strips with non-abrasive, mild detergent.
- When using bath oil, pour oil into filled tub rather than directly on appliqués.
