Instructions
To activate adhesive you must thoroughly clean bonding area with rubbing alcohol. If you regularly use a mildew remover to clean, you must go over the bonding area very thoroughly with rubbing alcohol to remove slippery residue.
- IMPORTANT – Surface must be clean and dry. You must remove all soap scum, dirt and silicone caulk from area to which adhesive will bond. Existing grout or other caulking must be trimmed flush with tile surface, but not necessarily entirely removed, for proper fit of Bath Seal.
- Measure the length of the tub from side wall to side wall (the long edge.)
- Measure that same distance on the back of one strip – then subtract 50mm (2 inches) and cut strip at that point. This will be called strip “A”. (Be sure to save the waste piece as the adhesive will be needed for the two corner joints.) The remaining long strip will be used for the two short edges of the tub.
- On the short wall, measure the width of the tub from inside corner to outside tub edge where seal will end.
- Measure that same distance on the back of the other strip – then subtract 25mm (1 inch) and cut strip at that point. Repeat this with the other “short” edge. These will be called strips “B” and “C”.
- Remove adhesive from the waste pieces and place that adhesive on all rear edges of both corner joints. SEE THE DRAWING BELOW. Remove backing paper from all strips to expose adhesive.
- Take left corner joint and position strip A (long strip) WITH ADHESIVE UP behind it so that strip A fits into lip of corner joint. Press both into place against back wall.
- Press right corner joint into place. Slide strip B, WITH ADHESIVE SIDE UP, into corner joint and press against side wall. Do the same with strip C on other side wall. Cap ends with caps provided.
- Apply very firm thumb pressure along lengths of three seams to ensure good adhesion. The use of a wallpaper seam roller will assure adhesive affixes to tile. Tub can be used immediately after installation.
There are two additional uses for Magic Bath Seal:
- To cover the upright corners of the bath wall requires one kit.
- Around the interior floor of a stall shower requires two kits.
