Planning and Capacity Analyst

Develops capacity planning (CRP), master production planning and master production schedule (MPD) processes. Where applicable, develops processes in Homax’s ERP system (JD Edwards). Works in conjunction with information technology resources, to implement system to improve visibility of plant and supplier demands and capacity constraints, resulting in improved customer satisfaction, operating costs and working capital. Responsible for specifying relevant reports, integrating capacity plan into supply planning process of the sales and operation planning process, and for the development of processes to define capacity feasible production and purchasing plans with major suppliers. Works with plant and purchasing staff to define, develop and implement appropriate planning parameters.

Essential Duites & Responsibilities

  • Products: Develop product master data requirements to drive efficient planning processes. Define product ABC classifications, and Stock / MTO characteristics, inventory planning and replenishment parameters and product obsolescence characteristics. Develop procedures to minimize inventory obsolescence and risk. Integrate this with the JDE process requirements. Work with Operations organizations to develop data in the JDE ERP system
  • Demand: Define requirements for translating sales forecasts and customer orders into unconstrained independent and dependent demand for production resources
  • Distribution Requirements Planning: Develop network definitions and independent / dependent demand relationships. Define replenishment and load building parameters. Provide reporting tools for distribution and shipping operations
  • Resources: Develop production resource requirement definitions for facility, equipment, tooling and labor resources. Define capacities for these resources
  • Routings: Define specific routings and work center definitions, and alternative routings as well
  • BOMs: Define Bills of Materials structures to support efficient planning processes
  • Data Management: Work with Operations to efficiently develop and load all master data
  • Master Production Plan: Develop reporting tools to determine current and planned resource utilization. Define procedures and processes for managing constrained resources and for the allocation and re-allocation of demand within time periods and against external and internal resources to meet capacity constraints and business, cost, inventory and service objectives
  • Materials Planning: Develop reporting tools to identify materials requirements based upon capacity constrained Master Production Plans. Define procedures and processes for managing materials resource issues
  • Master Production Scheduling: Develop process to drive Master Production Plan into weekly buckets. Define frozen time horizons, and production planning to scheduling hand offs. Integrate Master Production Scheduling with plant scheduling and sequencing processes and MRP processes
  • S&OP: Integrate capacity and materials planning processes with Supply Planning processes within the Sales and Operations Planning process
  • ATP: Develop ATP visibility to Customer Service
  • Work with ERP system developers/specialists to develop system functionality and reports
  • Creates performance analysis of plan execution
  • Creates additional reports as necessary

Eduacation/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) from four-year college or university and three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. M.B.A. desirable.
  • Demonstrable experience in creating and executing capacity plans and master production schedules.

Communication

  • Ability to read and interpret technical and other complex documents. Ability to write routine correspondence such as letters and memos. Ability to present information in one-on-one and small group situations to internal and/or external clients.

Reasoning and/or Critical Thinking Ability

  • The ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instruction. Constructive thinking and alternative short- to long-term solutions must be considered. Action plans must be developed and implemented.

Computer Skills

  • Advanced ability to operate computers and related software programs.

Technical Skills

  • S&OP Process Knowledge
  • PPIC Process Knowledge
  • Knowledge of database structures
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite
  • Advanced Excel, and Access
  • Database reporting experience
  • JD Edwards or other similar level ERP system
  • Q4Biz or other data warehouse program

Certificates, Licenses, & Registrations

  • APICS certification highly desirable.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

  • This position requires the manual dexterity sufficient to operate phones, computers, and other office equipment. This person must communicate clearly using the English language to accurately convey information and be able to hear at normal speaking levels both in person and over the telephone. Vision correctable to 20/40 is required to review written materials.
  • Generally good working conditions with little or no exposure to extremes in noises, temperature. Little or no safety or health hazards. Minimal lifting or climbing; work performed in an office setting.
