Easy Gate No-Sag Bracket Kit 9 9
liked, but It would be great if they came in a longer bracket say 6 in. It will reduce the sage for gates from 5 to 7 feet. I also would like the screw whole pushed out so the angel bar does not interfere with a straight screw gun alignment. It was tough getting a flat finish with the screw heads November 17, 2014
wood size issue The instructions on box say you can use various wood sizes, 2x3,2x4,2x6 etc, but after I cut my 2x4 into the 4 lengths, came to realize that the vertical length on the hinged side has a fixed opening that only fits 2x3 size.Only way to know this is to open box and measure. This needs to be clearly noted on box that 2x3 is only option for that side. Thanks October 20, 2014
No compatible with 2x cover boards my fence has 2x6 cover boards. The hinge will not work in a concealed arrangement with out ugly jerry rigging if you plan on using thicker than 1/2" cover boards. This really caused me some problems due to this not being mentioned before we started construction. Missing Instructions This is the second gate I am making. The first lasted 5 years with no sagging, so it is worth the trial and error. It is not as easy as the video. Sure connecting the 4 2X4s is easy, but then hooking the hinges to the post getting enough clearance and setting the hardware was a pain. NEED instructions for sizing the easy gate and hints to hook the hinges to the post. July 11, 2014
Excellent Quality & Easy to Build I used 3 kits for 3 gates in my fence 3 years ago. They were super-easy to put together and versatile. I made a narrow, tall gate, a wide gate and a normal gate. They all look as good as the day I installed them. July 7, 2014
Do Not Recommend Within the first 24 hours after installation, it sagged. So much so that I couldn't even close the gate. the actual hinges that mount to the main post BENT! I have never seen a hinge bend like these. The brackets were too small for treated 2x4's so you have to trim every piece to make it fit. This is not an EASY gate. February 25, 2014
Good product Overall I was pleased with Easy Gate No-Sag Bracket Kit. I ordered 3 of them, and have used 2 so far. In one of the kits the opening on the hinged brackets was 1/8 too small to receive the treated 2x4s I was using, so I had to trim the 2x4s down. In both kits the weld's in the hinged brackets interfered with the 2x4 fitting snugly, so I had to angle cut 1/4 off the corner of each 2x4. One kit was short on screws. Also, no instructions at all were included or available online, resulting in me having to do rework. "20 minute" setup would probably be true if you had all wood precut and all tools ready at hand, had assemble several before and are a pro builder. For me, with no instructions, it took closer to 3 hours per gate. But I'm pleased with the outcome, thus the high rating. April 13, 2013
A challenge I'm no beginner with projects and this product seemed like a great idea for me who has been tweaking the hinges and cables on my sagging 36"x48" front gate. The product comes with no instructions so I had used half of the round head screws before I realized there were flat head screws in the package as well. I assume the round head screws are for attaching the hinges to posts but there is no indication in the package.I recommend drilling pilot holes because the screws provided aren't very good self-driving ones.I got three sides done and then found that one of the brackets is bent at the hinge. I had to use a bar clamp and a "C" clamp to bring everything together. Real pain in the keester! I'll probably disassemble and return to the store. March 31, 2013
